All the medicinal materials were tested, and their quality met the relevant standards of the 2020 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Standard reference compounds, including epiberberine (wkq20031807), coptisine (wkq20021306), palmatine (wkq20051201), berberine (wkq20032408), baicalin (wkq20010908), wogonoside (wkq20040108), baicalein (wkq20022608), wogonin (20030204), rhein (wkq20052209), aloe-emodin (wkq20032708), emodin (wkq20041308), chrysophanol (wkq20081705), and physcion (wkq20040101) were purchased from Weikeqi Biotechnology Co., Ltd (Chengdu, China). The purity of all standard products was higher than 98%. Chromatographic grade acetonitrile and formic acid were purchased from Thermo-Fisher (US).

The reference standards of gardenoside, liquiritin, baicalin, wogonin, saikosaponin A and saikosaponin D were purchased from the National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products. The standard of salidroside was available from Shanghai Forever Biotech Co., Ltd. (China). The standard of wogonoside was obtained from Sichuan Weikeqi Biological Technology Co., Ltd. (China). The purity of all standards was above 98.0%.

Standard puerarin, berberine hydrochloride and baicalin were purchased from the National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products (Beijing, China). Standard daidzin, wogonoside and liquiritin were purchased from Weikeqi Biological Technology Co., Ltd. (Chengdu, China). Purified water used for the HPLC-MS system was obtained from the Hangzhou Wahaha Group Co., Ltd. (Hangzhou, China).

The analytical standards of BG (>98.0%) and B (>98.0%) were purchased from Shanghai Yuanye Bio-Technology Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). The reference standards of WG (>98.0%) and W (>98.0%) were bought from Sichuan Weikeqi Bio-Technology Co., Ltd. (Sichuan, China). Cellulase (≥10 U/mg) and pectinase (≥30U/mg) from Aspergillus niger were purchased from Beijing Cool Chemistry Technology Co., Ltd. (Beijing, China) and Shanghai Regal Bio-Technology Co., Ltd.

Baicalin, baicalein, wogonin and wogonoside (>98%) were purchased from Weikeqi Biotechnology Company (Sichuan, China). Oroxylin A 7-O-β-d-glucuronide (>98%) was purchased from Shanghai Forever Biotech Co., Ltd.

The Yankening Capsule (Batch No.: ZLA1305) was supplied by Yunnan Baiyao Group Co., Ltd. (Yunnan, China).

SSa, SSc, SSd, SSb1, SSb2, baicalin and wogonoside were purchased from Sichuan WeiKeQi Bio-Technology (Sichuan, China). 6″-O-Acetyl-SSa and 6″-O-acetyl-SSd were synthesized from SSa and SSd by acetylation using acetic anhydride. The reaction products were separated and purified using a preparative HPLC system.
