Hubei Institute of drug supervision and inspection (hereinafter referred to as "Hubei Institute of drug inspection"), established in 1972, is a public welfare class I institution directly under Hubei Provincial Drug Administration. Qualified for inspection and testing of food, drugs, biological products, cosmetics, pharmaceutical packaging materials, cleanliness, disinfection and sterilization products and other products. It is a batch issuance and inspection institution of biological products authorized by the State Drug Administration, the Key Laboratory of blood products quality control of the State Drug Administration, the Key Laboratory of traditional Chinese medicine quality control, and Hubei provincial drug quality testing and control engineering technology research center.

Hubei Provincial Institute for drug control now has two hospital areas, biological city and T-shaped bridge, covering a total area of about 158 Mu and a total construction area of more than 40000 square meters. At present, there are more than 2000 sets of instruments and equipment such as LC-MS, GC-MS and ICP-MS, with a total value of about 200million yuan. The Institute has the party and government office, the comprehensive business department (scientific research management department), the quality management department (Information Center), the drug inspection and Research Center, the traditional Chinese medicine inspection and Research Center, the biological products inspection and Research Center, the food and cosmetics inspection and Research Center (Innovative Development service platform), the packaging materials inspection and Research Center, the biosafety inspection and Research Center, the human resources department (veteran cadres' office), the financial management department, the asset management department 13 departments including logistics service department.

Hubei Provincial Institute for drug control now has a highly professional talent team, with 178 on-the-job staff, including 1 postdoctoral, 12 doctors and 82 masters. Among the 38 personnel with senior professional titles, there are 1 level II professional and technical position, 3 level III professional and technical positions and 11 level IV professional and technical positions. There are 3 members of the national pharmacopoeia committee, 1 member of the National Standard Review Committee for food safety, 1 reviewer of national laboratory accreditation, and 3 master tutors of Hubei University of traditional Chinese medicine. There are one expert who enjoys the special allowance of the State Council, one young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions in Hubei Province, and three experts who enjoy the special allowance of the government of Hubei Province.

In recent years, it has drafted 5 standards of the International Pharmacopoeia of the World Health Organization, drafted and reviewed more than 300 varieties of national drug standards, organized and completed the drafting of the quality standards of traditional Chinese medicine in Hubei Province, the processing specifications of traditional Chinese medicine in Hubei Province, and the preparation specifications of medical institutions in Hubei Province, undertook 62 scientific research projects at the national, provincial, and municipal levels, and won 1 first prize, 5 second prizes, and 1 third prize of provincial scientific and technological progress.
